Greetings, fellow MA exam takers! I had a dream that there was an online forum for discussion, review and exam practice open to all English masters program students at Cal Poly. And what a dream it was! So without a clue as to whether someone has already created such a thing, I have embarked on a journey that I hope will become a useful resource in our preparations for the MA exam.
I propose to do this in the form of a blog since it is a format I'm familiar with, though I'm open to any ideas to kick it up a notch technologically; just know that if this is the consensus, someone else will have intervene (as I am not technologically inclined). I envision a weekly post that focuses on a response or series of responses to a hypothetical exam question either in the form of an outline or a fully timed essay. The idea is to open up a forum in which we can each contribute ideas, tips, questions, and constructive feedback so that we can go into the test feeling confident and prepared. I'd like to post occasional theory reviews that include the application of different theoretical lenses to selected works. Also, I think the blog could serve as a great place to collect the practice essay questions that our instructors give us as well as ones we generate ourselves. Please feel free to participate as you have time and let me know if I have overlooked anyone or anything.
Also, I'm quite unhappy with the title of the blog so if any of you have time to be creative, please send me some ideas.
-John
